Another weekend gone...

Well, this weekend has been very productive. We started with John's company party on Friday night. It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of very nice people. On Saturday, John and I went to the SandRidge Santa Fun Run. This was an event for SHL and it was a lot of work; however, we had fun.

After the event we went Christmas shopping. We almost have everyone done. Thank goodness!!! I cannot believe how much things cost this year. I never shop at Gordmans bu\t I consider it a bargain center. Not this year!! Everything was so expensive. I guess this is just another sign of our failing economy.

Anyways, today we worked on the desk. The only thing I have left to do is paint diamonds on the drawers. Should be easy! Let me know what you think!
Love y'all-

Our Flea Market Find!

About a month ago, Lori, John and I went to a flea market here in OKC. We ended up finding this old desk for $5. I just started working on it this weekend and I want to share my progress.

I am also posting pictures from Liz's 50th Birthday party!

As promised...

I will tell you all about our Thanksgiving fun! Lori came and stayed with us on Wednesday night which was a lot of fun. She helped me get all of our last minute shopping done and then we experimented with curling our hair. (Definetely Thanksgiving related...I know!) On Thursday, Lori headed out around 11 and I started cooking our wonderful "feast". Our "Honey Baked Ham" turkey went in the oven, stuffing and corn casserole went in the fridge and somehow I whipped up sugar cookies amidst it all. My parents and Kevin contributed to our meal with rolls, potatoes, ham and pie.

Everyone came at two, which gave us plenty of time to prepare and get the house ready. Lori and I managed to find Thanksgiving decorations at Wal-Mart the night before so our house looked pretty cute! We have the smallest kitchen in the world but John brouhgt home an extra table from work which really gave us a ton of space!

Our wonderful afternoon ended with great conversation and wonderful dessert. Needless to say, we were exhausted!! My intentions were good when I set my alarm for 3:30AM so we could cash in some "Black Friday" deals. More specifically we wanted the $599 front loading washer and dryer from Sears. So, at 3:30 when my alarm went off I successfully hit snooze until about 9:00 in the morning. I was pretty disapointed in myself; however, everything happens for a reason. We ended up scoring a great deal at Conns...an appliance store right by our house. I am posting pictures of our great "find".

Anyways, another Thanksgiving come and gone. Where does the time go???

Tis' the Season

Well, its holiday time again! Time for some to revel in the joys of family and others to roll around in materialistic and meaningless "fluff." I completely understand buying gifts for loved ones. Personally,I do not need gifts. Just happy people enjoying time together. Luckily, I get what I want every year! I am always very appreciative of the gifts I receive and Lindsi and I put much effort into the gifts we give, but in all honesty I am content with my life year round and material gifts have no impact on my happiness.

P.S. I heard a rumor that a Wal-Mart greeter in New York or somewhere was trampled
to death during the big After Thanksgiving Sale. Seriously? Regular everyday
people killed a man over material items. Do you think there is remorse? Nope.
No, just an accident right? Give me a break. Honestly, people should be better.

Merry Christmas to Us!

We heard this afternoon the builder accepted our offer on the house. We are so excited and relieved!! This means we still need an inspection (Dec. 4) and then we will close December 17th. Don't get me wrong, I am very, very excited to move. However, it is a little bittersweet. I love putting up my Christmas decorations and unfortunately I will probably have to wait this year. There is no way I can put up a tree and then take it down in time for the move. Not happening! Anyways, we are thrilled and this will be a huge step up for John and I. We will be doubling our square footage not to mention having two bathrooms now. I guess this will be a Merry Christmas present for us!!

Once again, I will post pics when I can!!

Wow! I had no idea John made his first post. Actually, I think he told me, I probably just forgot!! Yes, house hunting...GRRR!! It is so confusing. There are so many ups and downs; however, I am certain we will find something!!

In other news, we are having Thanksgiving at our house (yes, our tiny little rent house) this year. It should be very interesting considering we have never cooked a turkey before. I will let all of our faithful readers (mom) know how it goes!!

This past weekend we went to Kansas City for my Aunt's 50th. It was a surprise party and we had so much fun!! She was shocked and of course it was good to see the family. Pictures to come...

Well, not much else to report...

House Huntin`

Whew! I thought ring shopping was intense! Lindsi and I have been trying to seal the deal on a fantastic house for a few days now. I think we are both just ready for an answer... not another counter offer. On top of that we are trying to determine what we need and do not need as far as junk we have accumulated over the years. Just the idea of finally owning our own house has created a frenzy of excitement. This will be the centerpiece of our life together. This is where our children will grow up, where we will host holidays, and where we will continue to fall in love day after day. I'm not so excited about mowing and other lawn chores, but it is a small price to pay. We will keep you posted.
